IB MYP Students’ Visit to Banco Forest – February 20, 2025
On February 20, 2025, students of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) visited Banco National Park, a lush tropical forest located in the heart of Abidjan. The trip was designed to enhance students’ knowledge of biodiversity, conservation, and environmental sustainability.
Guided by park rangers, students explored the dense forest, observing its rich plant and animal life, including towering trees, rare bird species, and small mammals. They also learned about the park’s role in protecting Abidjan’s water supply and its importance in combating climate change. A highlight of the visit was the tour of the Banco River, where students discussed the impact of pollution and deforestation on natural ecosystems.
The trip was both educational and eye-opening, reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation and inspiring students to be more conscious of their role in protecting nature.
